Avenir Typographical Specifications
When Adrian Frutigar sought out to create a more humanist version of a san serif he was marrying the classic tradition of typography with the modern trends that had been developing prevalently in his home country.
Adrian Frutigar is well respected in the field of typography because of his unique approach to creating beautifully legible fonts with character and class.
Avenir is a light hearted yet solidly dependable font. Frutigar took the geomety of Futura and Erbar and created a more organic version of a geometrical typeface by marrying organic shapes such as curved feet and slightly curved terminals. These characteristics are what makes Avenir so uniquely humanist.
This work was created by using bubble wrap to inspire letterforms which were scanned and vectorized to create an original typeface.
